The BikeSafe Volunteer Team has been recognised with the Community Spirit Award at the Force Annual Awards 2026, hosted by Lincolnshire Police on 23 September. The award celebrates the outstanding contribution made by the volunteer instructors who help make Lincolnshire's roads safer through rider education and engagement.

The team consists of 14 dedicated volunteers including RoSPA Lincolnshire motorcycle tutor Andy McNeil who freely give their time, expertise and passion for motorcycling to support fellow riders. Each volunteer maintains a high standard of riding ability and instructional skill, which is assessed annually to ensure participants receive the highest quality guidance.

Through BikeSafe workshops and observed rides, the team shares advanced roadcraft techniques and practical riding advice, helping motorcyclists develop safer riding habits while building positive relationships between the police and the biking community. Their commitment extends far beyond delivering events, with a strong focus on road safety education and community engagement.

A particular highlight noted by the awards panel was that during 2025 the BikeSafe team supported more than 80 riders, helping them become more skilled, safer and more visible on the roads. Their efforts are recognised as contributing towards reducing motorcycle casualties and improving road safety across the county.

The award was presented as part of Lincolnshire Police's annual celebration of exceptional service, where Chief Constable Paul Gibson highlighted the dedication of officers, staff and volunteers who make a positive difference to the communities they serve.[

For everyone involved in BikeSafe, this award is a testament to the enthusiasm, professionalism and commitment of the volunteer team. Their work continues to demonstrate the BikeSafe message: Be Skillful. Be Safe. Be Seen.[

Congratulations to the entire BikeSafe Volunteer Team on this well-deserved recognition
